Extension Events: A busy week ahead

Posted

Next week is a busy week of activities at the Adair County Cooperative Extension Service. Don’t miss out!
The Adair County Cattlemen’s Association will have their annual business meeting and awards banquet on Monday, January 22 at 6 p.m.
Officers will be elected and the Cattlemen of the Year will be named.  All members and prospective members are invited to attend.

Renovating Horse Pasture
If you are looking to renovate horse pastures and look deeper at your horse nutrition program, join us on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 5:30 pm.
UK Equine Specialist Dr. Bob Coleman will be serving as guest speaker discussing winter-feeding and pasture forage species for horses.

Applicator License
Farmers whose private applicator license expired in December 2023 should make plans to attend a recertification class on Wednesday Jan. 24 at 10 a.m.
Certification is good for three years.  Certification is only required for restricted-use pesticides.
Common examples of these pesticides include products containing atrazine, paraquat, or lambda-cyhalothrin.

CAIP Deadline
CAIP participants whose projects were approved in September must have their receipts, canceled checks, and reports submitted by close of business on Thursday, Jan. 25.

Tree Seedlings
Tree seedlings from the Kentucky Division of Forestry are scheduled to be available starting Thursday, Jan. 25 and will be available while supplies last.
Each homeowner may receive up to four seedlings total.
Species requested include sycamore, black walnut, pecan, white oak, and wild plum.
Adair County Extension Master Gardeners will be on hand distributing seedlings and answering any questions you may have on location selection, planting, and care for seedlings.
For more information on any of these programs, contact the Adair County Cooperative Extension Service at 270-384-2317.
