The Adair County Conservation District is currently taking applications for a hay storage program.
Applications may be picked up and returned to the Adair County Soil Conservation District located at 965 Campbellsville Rd. The deadline to apply is Thursday, Nov. 30.
The awarding of cost share funds will be based on the information provided on the application. The applications will not be considered on a first-come, first-serve basis. All applications may not be funded due to financial constraints. Cost share is $5000. Applicants for this program must be an Adair County farmer.
Program installations must be made by June 30, 2024. One six-month extension will be offered if necessary. The maximum cost share is limited to one producer/farm/partnership. Maximum of one application per household.
Anyone receiving over $600 will be issued a 1099 for tax purposes at the end of the year. This program will cost share on materials and construction of NEW permanent hay storage structures. Renovation projects will not be eligible.
*If approved, a hay and feed storage and utilization educational program must be completed before construction. The certificate will be required for payment. You will also be put on a special Extension Service mailing list to receive occasional timely forage production and management information.
A contract will be required after approval. An itemized summary of expenses, photograph of new hay storage facility, and educational program certification must accompany receipts for payment. Spot checks will be made before payment and during the contracted time-period.
If a producer fails to meet the requirements of the program, including the following year’s evaluation, they will not be eligible for any future funding opportunities through Adair County Conservation District.
Failure to adhere to requirements may also require repayment of a portion of all funds received from the Adair County Conservation District.
