Billy Lee Harmon, 83, of Columbia, passed away Monday, August 7, 2023 at TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. He was born on September 23, 1939 in Adair County to the late Lizzie Harmon Burton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Harvey Harmon.
Billy attended Hadley’s Community Church for many years and enjoyed raising tobacco, farming, gardening and most of all growing watermelons to give to his neighbors. He was well known in the Glensfork community and enjoyed going to the local country store in Glensfork, also known as Hardscratch.
Survivors include his son, Eugene Harmon of California; a sister-in-law, Rosetta Harvey Burris; a brother-in-law, Harold Glen Harvey; and several other friends and relatives.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 10, 2023 at the McClister Cemetery with Bro. Elbert Hadley officiating. There will be a brief viewing at the cemetery before the service.
Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
