Velma Jean Holmes, 74, of Stanford, Kentucky, formerly of Adair County, died Saturday, October 28, 2023, at her residence.
She was born April 28, 1949, in McCreary County, to the late Lloyd and Leva Phillips Worley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary and Greg Worley. She was a member of Purdy Separate Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include her children, Clayton Holmes (Lisa) of Stanford, Tracy Holmes (Scott Herron) of Campbellsville, Rachel Holmes (Kenny Whittle) of Columbia; one sister, Tracey Brown of Jamestown; six grandchildren, Kevin Holmes, Morgan Holmes, Hannah Bragg, Jared Penick, Zachary Dial and Ryan Dial; a host of great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, October at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Edwards and Bro. Gene Dale Holmes officiating with burial in New Hope Cemetery. Visitation was held on Monday.
